FreedomWorks to Cosponsor CPAC

FreedomWorks announced today that it is a proud cosponsor of the 2005 Conservative Political Action Conference, also known as CPAC. Founded and led by the American Conservative Union (ACU), CPAC is an annual gathering of activists and political organizations dedicated to building a larger conservative movement. FreedomWorks believes that economic freedom is a key part of this majority coalition.

Begun in 1973, CPAC is one of the premier annual political events in the nation, with over 4,000 visitors attending. This year’s conference will take place February 17th-19th in Washington, DC., and will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building downtown.

A number of very prominent political leaders will attend, participate, and speak on the issues facing the nation. For example, Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) will deliver the “State of the Movement” keynote address at CPAC. Rep. Ryan is a leader on Social Security reform, and the creation of personal accounts for the program is the top priority for the 109th Congress.

Indeed, much of the conference will focus on President Bush’s ‘Ownership Society’ agenda of fundamental tax reform, an end to lawsuit abuse, and Social Security reform with personal accounts. FreedomWorks will have a booth at the conference where CPAC participants can learn more about FreeomWorks and sign up as members.

FreedomWorks will also broadcast its monthly internet radio show, “The FreedomWorks Show,” live from CPAC. The program will be featured on Rightalk, a conservative internet radio network. To tune in, sign onto www.rightalk.com.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented:

“We’re excited to be a cosponsor of CPAC. The conference is an important political event and a great place for economic conservatives to organize. I’d like to thank David Keene and Stacie Rumenap at ACU for their hard work organizing this year’s event, and we look forward to helping make it the most successful CPAC yet.

“FreedomWorks has exciting news to share, both of our July 2004 merger between Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) and Empower America, and of our recent activities in the field. Last year, we defeated tax hikes in Oregon and Washington State, and we reached over 4 million targeted voters during the 2004 election season.”
